How much horsepower does the 2021 Ford Bronco have?
2021 Ford Bronco Powertrain and Performance Specs
The wait is finally over. Ford revealed most of the specs for the 2021 Bronco. They’re impressive. The 2021 Bronco is unabashedly intended to be a Jeep killer. The Wrangler has been the only vehicle on the market to provide its brand of off-road fun and customizability for a few decades. The Bronco is here to challenge that. And it starts with the engines.
Let’s take a look at the powertrain options and see just how much horsepower the 2021 Ford Bronco has.

2021 Bronco Engine Types and Powertrain
At the time of writing, Ford has officially revealed two engine options for the 2021 Ford Bronco. They are:
2.3L turbo EcoBoost four-cylinder – 270 horsepower; 310 lb-ft of torque
2.7L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 – 310 horsepower; 400 lb-ft of torque
The 2.3L EcoBoost comes paired with a proprietary seven-speed manual transmission. Ford is describing it as a six-plus-one-speed transmission. It’s essentially a six-speed manual with a low-end crawl gear. The 2.7L EcoBoost is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Given the Bronco heritage, it will come as no surprise that every 2021 Bronco is 4WD.
Off-Roading Features
As expected, the 2021 Bronco has many off-roading features. Like most off-road vehicles, it has many drives modes suited to different terrains. Locking front and rear differentials are available, as are position-sensitive Bilstein dampers. There’s also an available electro-hydraulically actuated front stabilizer bar disconnect system that automatically disengages under load and re-engages at speeds of 20+ mph. Trail Turn Assist applies brake pressure to the inside rear brake while turning, tightening the turning radius. The infotainment display can be used to show vehicle pitch, roll angles, tire pressures, and ground views from a 360-degree camera system. Undercarriage plating protects integral systems like the anti-roll bar disconnect, the transfer case, and the gas tank. Rock rails and tow hooks are also available.
