Does Lifting a Truck Void Warranty?

2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Lifted

Have you been thinking about lifting your truck in Tucson? You may be wondering how the addition of a lift kit could affect the warranty on your vehicle. We are commonly asked, “Does lifting a truck void warranty coverage?” In most cases, the answer to this question is no, but there are some caveats to be aware of before you choose to lift your vehicle.

Lifted Trucks and Warranty Coverage

Does lifting a truck void the warranty? For most manufacturers, lifting a truck does not automatically void your warranty. Keep in mind that the use of a lift kit can void some aspects of your warranty. If the manufacturer believes the lift kit contributed to the issue with the vehicle, coverage could be denied. Generally, if something goes wrong with parts like the stereo or your vehicle’s infotainment system, those claims will not be denied because that issue is clearly not caused by the installation of a lift kit. However, if there is a problem with a part directly impacted by the lift kit, there is a possibility that the automaker will deny liability.

Should I Still Install a Lift Kit?

Some truck manufacturers have an “approved” list of lift kits that will not void the warranty on the vehicle. These approved options may be a bit pricer, but they provide added peace of mind for Mesa and Apache Junction drivers. If you opt for a lift kit that falls outside of a manufacturer’s approved options, you may be out of luck if the addition leads to problems down the road.

However, some lift kits come with their own warranty coverage, so it is worth considering a brand that covers defects with their product.
